Blackjack Switch

Blackjack Switch is a blackjack variant which allows the player to trade cards between two hands. The switch is used to create better blackjack hands, which have a greater chance of winning. Higher winning odds are compensated by lower blackjack payouts and some rules which are beneficial for the dealer.

The player must make two bets of equal size and is allowed to switch the second card dealt to each hand. The object of the game is for the total of your cards to be closer to 21 than the dealer’s cards without exceeding 21. Blackjack Switch can be played with six or eight decks. Cards are dealt face up.

Dealer will peek for blackjack with an ace or ten up. If the dealer has a blackjack all player hands will immediately lose, except a player blackjack will push.

  1. The dealer usually hits on soft 17 and stand on hard 17.
  2. The player may switch the second card dealt to each hand.
  3. If the dealer gets a 22, it is considered a draw
  4. The player may split
  5. The player may double after a split.
  6. If the player switches to a blackjack, it counts as 21 points.
  7. The player may double on any 2 cards.

Blackjack Switch offers no surrender option. You will only receive a 1:1 payout for a blackjack. Although a blackjack in Blackjack Switch only pays 1 to 1, it is usually advisable to switch a hand in order to have one blackjack, and one hand that is not so good.

Blackjack Switch tables typically allow a side bet. It pays even money when a player's first two cards are a pair. Three of a kind pays 5:1 and two pairs pay 8:1. If the player is lucky enough to get four of a kind, the payout is 40:1.
